Jailed musician Robert Sylvester Kelly, alias R. Kelly, has been ordered to pay Heather Williams N1.8 billion.
Williams, one of the defendants in R. Kelly’s numerous legal actions, has been granted access to the funds in the disgraced singer’s Sony Music Royalty account, according to a judge’s decision.

The value of the musician’s Sony account in 2020 was N690 million.
R. Kelly sentenced:
R Kelly received a 30-year prison term after being accused of abusing children for many years. In Brooklyn federal court, US District Judge Ann Donnelly sentenced the defendant after hearing seven victims’ testimonies.
The musician had been found guilty by the jury of racketeering and Mann Act violations. A jury convicted him guilty of racketeering in 2021 following a six-week trial in a Brooklyn courthouse that featured testimony from 45 witnesses.
Power and fame:
The R&B singer was criticized in court by one of his victims for utilizing his influence and notoriety to find children to groom for his pleasure.
Before Kelly is sentenced, a number of his victims—some of whom testified at his trial last year—are giving impact statements. The victim, named as Angela, pointed at the defendant and accused him of attracting kids with his fame and wealth.
She said:
“With every addition of a new victim, you grew in wickedness. You used your fame and power to groom and coach underage boys and girls for your own sexual gratification. Today we reclaim our names. We are no longer the preyed-upon individuals we once were. I pray that God reaches your soul.”
The allegations against R. Kelly were made by nine women, and at least 45 witnesses were asked to testify against the singer during the trial
